Fireflies or Kelip Kelip

We took a trip about 1.5 hours northwest of KL to Kuala Selangor. Our main reason was to see the fireflies, but we also made a short visit to the Kuala Selangor Nature Park where we were able to see monkeys in the wild. We took our good friends from the UK, the Masons with us. Our car had been not too reliable and they were having issues with their Sat Nav(GPS) so we decided to carpool to save us both having problems.

The macau monkey is plentiful in Malaysia and we see them all the time. The silver haired monkey is supposedly more rare and so it was fun to see how they act in the wild. We especially liked the silver hair's spikey hairdoo!

A lookout tower gave us a great view of the sanctuary.

Neil, Joe, Alex and Amily enjoying the view.

The ladies man is at it again. Girlfriends on every continent!!

Kuala Selangor river as the sun sets. Viewing of the fireflies is best after dark. Unlike fireflies we have seen in the States, these fireflies gather together in bushes and their synchronized blinking is a sight. Looks just like a string of blinking Christmas lights.
